2022 Year in Review

1

Editor’s note: This blog post was medically reviewed by Carol DerSarkissian, MD

We want to start 2023 with a big Ezra thank you to all our members. We thank you for your commitment, your constant feedback on our service, and for recommending Ezra to your loved ones.

A staggering 81.6% of our members have referred someone to get an Ezra scan, and for that, we are incredibly thankful.

Despite the tough economic landscape and ever-evolving priorities we all face, Ezra has made great strides toward our mission of detecting cancer early for everyone. We couldn’t have done this without our committed community of members.

Our focus in 2022 centered on delivering the best full-body screening experience in the US. We’re a data-driven company, and today we’d like to share some of our data with our wonderful community.

Let’s take a look.

81.6% of Ezra members who have had at least one screening said in a recent survey that they had recommended Ezra to others.

Members recommend Ezra to colleagues, family and friends because they consider Ezra to be:

  1. A service that puts you in charge of your health: “A way to be your own health advocate and get a whole body cancer screening that doctors won’t order for you.”
  2. A necessary step in maintaining health: “I’ve told several people that their life is worth every penny they’ll spend for this test. Early detection is life-saving.”
  3. A thorough way of understanding what’s happening in your body: “This saved my life. Never had a cardiac symptom, but upon getting my results and the necessary follow-ups, I had a 90% blockage of my widow maker’s coronary artery fixed prior to having a devastating heart attack that might have killed me.”
  4. A way to find peace of mind: “There are many things Ezra can find on all parts of the medical spectrum. They aren’t all bad, but I’d much rather find the bad things when they can be resolved instead of waiting for a Stage IV cancer diagnosis.”

Retention: We’re Your Cancer Screening Partner for the Long Term

We’ve noticed a significant number of returning members this year. The visual below shows the percentage of returning members by age group in 2022.

Members cited the following primary motivations for getting an Ezra Full-Body MRI Scan:

  1. Peace of mind and being able to sleep soundly knowing everything is ok
  2. Knowledge and information about their body
  3. Significant finding or learning they had a health issue
  4. Cancer screening, preventive early detection, or proactive screening
  5. Baseline information about their body

Expanded Membership Plans

To support our returning members, we introduced new membership plans. Ezra now offers  3 and 5-year membership packages at up to 40% discount.

We recommend that our members get an Ezra Full Body scan at least once a year to monitor for potential signs of new diseases or any abnormalities that may not have been detected in previous scans. These scans are also a valuable tool for monitoring overall health.

Delivery of Significant Clinical Findings for Members

Our Medical Team determines an E-SCORE (i.e., Ezra Score) to determine which findings are actionable and which are not. This system is based on the “RADS” methodology invented by the American College of Radiology (PI-RADS for prostate, BI-RADS for breast, etc.).

An E-SCORE of 4 or 5 represents urgent and emergent findings that require attentive follow-up. An E-SCORE of 3 is something to be monitored over time. And E-SCORES 1 and 2 are just informative.

When it comes to notable findings in our member’s scans, the graph below illustrates member findings by E-SCORE.

In 2022, 5% of our members had an E-SCORE of 4 or 5. Aside from possible cancer, other notable findings included:

  • Disk herniations
  • Endometriosis
  • Fibroids
  • Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
  • Potential gallstones

In the past, some of our returning members have discovered possible cancer during their annual Ezra scans and have expressed gratitude for making Ezra a part of their health screening routine.

Continued Expansion: Growing Partnerships and New Locations

Last year, we expanded to new locations and established partnerships with additional physicians and radiology specialists

We continued to maintain and strengthen our partnership with our existing facility partners. We are grateful for their expertise and commitment to providing the highest level of patient care.

Addition of New Locations

In 2022, we answered your call to add new locations for our full-body MRI scans. This is just the start, and you’ll find the latest locations here:

Ezra is now available in 13 partner imaging facilities across New York, San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Miami, and Las Vegas. Find an Ezra location near you.

Please let us know if you have a specific location you would like us to open. Email hello@ezra.com.

The Ezra Experience: Rapid Improvements to Deliver More Value

Operationally, Ezra dedicated much of 2022 to improving the Ezra Experience for our members. Here are the major projects we invested in to help us deliver a better experience for our members.

AI-powered Ezra Reports in Record Time

Improvements to our infrastructure and a new breakthrough in AI development have enabled us to deliver the Ezra Report to members in record time

Previously, members waited for 2 to 3 days (on average) to receive their Ezra Report. In the second half of last year, most members received their Ezra Report within 24 hours of Ezra receiving the radiology reports from our radiology partners.

Previously, members waited 2 to 3 days (on average) to receive their Ezra Report. In the second half of last year, most members received their Ezra Report within 24 hours of Ezra receiving the radiology reports from our radiology partners.

This means that members receive their final Ezra Report within 3 to 5 business days from their scan.

A Faster Screening Experience: Full Implementation of the 6th Generation Ezra Full-Body MRI Protocol

The 6th generation Ezra full-body MRI protocol was created and validated in December 2021. This MRI protocol combines 40 different series scanning most major organs.

In Q1 of 2022, we updated all Ezra locations with this new protocol, which increased the speed of the Ezra Full Body by 38%.

An Updated MyEzra Dashboard

Ezra members can view their scans in their account dashboard through the Ezra Viewer. This new interface will encourage more image sharing and follow-up care for any significant findings.

In one click, the tool enables patients to easily download their scans and share them with their PCP or a specialist.

Updates to MyEzra also enable users to:

  • Schedule and change initial consultations and follow-up consultations
  • Update payment and account information

Advancing Innovation

In 2022, Ezra continued actively working with the FDA on a new AI product planned for release in 2023. Watch this space; we have some exciting announcements coming soon.
