Summary
Daniel Kevin Sodickson is an American physicist and an expert in the field of biomedical imaging. A past president[1] and gold medalist[2] of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, he is credited with foundational work in parallel magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), in which distributed arrays of detectors are used to gather magnetic resonance images at previously inaccessible speeds. Parallel imaging is now used in a majority of clinical and research MRI scans around the world. Dr. Sodickson has also led other advances in rapid imaging and the design of MRI detector technology. His research team pioneered the use of AI to accelerate imaging, enabling high-quality images to be generated from limited data. Dr. Sodickson is an elected Fellow of the US National Academy of Inventors and a member of the National Advisory Council of the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering. He currently serves as Chief of Innovation and Director of the Center for Advanced Imaging Innovation and Research in the Department of Radiology at NYU.
Dr. Sodickson works closely with the Ezra Artificial Intelligence team to accelerate Ezra scans, improve early cancer detection, and facilitate ongoing monitoring for cancer risk.
