Watch the video to hear Mark's story
With 33 years in the construction industry, exposed to harsh chemicals, dangerous conditions and machinery, Mark has a high cancer risk. He's survived cancer twice since 2013 and now gets an Ezra scan every year.
Mark is a true believer in yearly Ezra scans, with good reason. As a heavy equipment mechanic who spent years on construction sites exposed to all kinds of harsh chemicals, Mark faced unexpected health challenges that would change his life and force him to retire. When the story is of cancer caught too late - Mark knows all too well how essential his yearly Ezra scan is.
One day in 2019 Mark lost his balance at the gym for no apparent reason. He then started having problems with his speech. With all prior tests coming back negative his doctor prompted him to have an MRI of his brain which revealed three spots of concern and ultimately led to a diagnosis of Central Nervous System (CNS) lymphoma.
CNS lymphoma is an especially aggressive form of brain cancer. With a survival rate of 30% over 5 years and 20% over 10 years it is truly a blessing that Mark caught it early enough to be treated and thankfully survive.
“If it had gone much further, my outcome would not have been as rosy”
But this wasn’t his first run-in with cancer. Before the CNS lymphoma Mark had already faced another challenge in 2013 when he was diagnosed with a thymoma. Thankfully, the thymoma was removed without the need for radiation, and no cancer was detected afterward. Mark notes that while he caught it early enough to survive - his thymoma was the size of a softball.
When he discovered Ezra, Mark knew that this was the route to peace of mind and the sanctity of knowing he doesn’t have cancer - with just a one-hour MRI scan each year.
“When you have an illness like I had twice, the loss of productivity is unimaginable. The fact that you’re not able to function the way you normally would, the fact that your life is no longer your own - you’re basically incarcerated. This is why the $2,000 fee for an Ezra scan is small change compared to what you could potentially lose if you do get cancer.”
For Mark, the Ezra scan became his doctrine, giving him reassurance and peace of mind. He had scans in 2022, 2023, and 2024, each providing crucial information about his health. Every successive scan allowed him to sleep better at night knowing he was in control of his health and his life.
He expresses his heartfelt thanks, saying that when the scans come back clean, he can finally rest easy.
