Aneurysm Warning Signs: What to Look Out for

Aneurysms are formed in weak areas in the walls of blood vessels, and can occur in many different parts of the body. While aneurysms are sometimes asymptomatic, any signs of the condition will hinge upon where type of aneurysm in question is:

• Brain (cerebral) aneurysms may cause nausea/vomiting, a sudden, severe headache, visual disturbance, and sometimes even a loss of consciousness.
• Abdominal aortic aneurysms can lead to persistent pain in the lower back, chest, abdominal, or groin areas.
• Femoral aneurysms could result in the pulsating of the artery found in the groin, sores in the lower legs or feet, or pain in your leg.
• Popliteral artery aneurysms may lead to pulsating of the artery found behind the knee, leg pain, or sores on the lower legs or feet.
• Common iliac aneurysms can cause groin, lower abdominal, or back pain.

It’s important to remember that many of these signs can easily be mistaken for other conditions; you should contact your doctor if you develop any of the above symptoms.
