If you want to be proactive about your health with a look inside your body, an Ezra Scan may be right for you.
Ezra provides a holistic approach to screening for early cancer with an Ezra Full Body — as we’re able to look at findings across the body to detect abnormalities using MRI.
Ezra offers comprehensive MRI imaging, including full-body scans (NYC locations) designed to screen up to 14 organs for abnormalities that may point to possible cancer or other diseases (such as fatty liver disease and endometriosis) while still in the early stages.
MRIs have a high degree of sensitivity, enabling Ezra to find potential early cancer as small as 2 mm. The MRI service has no harmful radiation (unlike CT scans), so you can think about getting it regularly.
For diseases like cancer and heart disease, it’s helpful to start screening early, ideally before symptoms appear.
Full-body scans can be a part of everyone’s preventive healthcare routine. We recommend an Ezra Full Body every 12 months.
A few notes: Colon, prostate, and kidney cancers are more common in men. Ladies, also know that there is more to cancer screening than just your yearly mammogram.
In fact, a heart attack with underlying coronary artery disease is still the leading cause of death among women in the United States.
In medical imaging, the term “full-body scan” usually refers to the use of MRI or CT scans to screen multiple organs for potential abnormalities at the same time.
Each modality has its preferred areas of use and also limitations. For example, CTs are usually preferred for looking at bones, detecting calcifications, tumors, and evaluating structures within the chest cavity. MRIs are generally better at looking for abnormalities in soft-tissues like muscles, ligaments, and joints as well as scanning for tumors and for tissue changes in many organs.
For an even better vantage, some scanning packages use CT scans for specific areas or in certain situations and otherwise use MRIs.
For example, based on your past medical history and other considerations, your healthcare practitioner may recommend one or more of the following screening tests:
A low-dose CT (LDCT) uses smaller amounts of ionizing radiation compared to a regular chest CT and is a valuable tool for detecting changes associated with lung cancer in high-risk patients who are 55 or older and have a history of smoking.
During medical appointments, be sure to mention all of your risk factors and past medical history, including any remote smoking history and tobacco use.
A CAC uses CT scans to detect calcifications inside the blood vessels that supply oxygenated blood to the heart muscle.
If you are at a high risk of developing heart disease, your provider may add this test to the Ezra Full Body Plus.
CT scans are faster but limited in their scope and pose some risks that MRI scans do not. CT scans, or computed tomography scans, use X-rays to create a series of detailed images that, when combined using software, create a cross-sectional view of your organs.
But since CT scans use X-rays, they do emit some ionizing radiation which can cause harm to your DNA that could accumulate over your lifetime. This is one reason why CT scans aren’t the best choice for extensive full-body scanning.
We believe it’s important to consider the risks alongside the benefits when it comes to full-body imaging or any type of imaging technique.
MRI may not be suitable for all people. Let your provider know if you have metallic implants, some types of pacemakers and implanted medical devices, prosthetic heart valves, tattoos and permanent makeup. You’ll want to make sure they are 3T MRI safe.
If you have MRI anxiety and claustrophobia or have a larger build, you may be interested to know that 3T MRIs, like those used by Ezra and our facility partners, have larger tunnels and shorter scan times.

Our Ezra Full Body and Full Body Plus screen up to 13 organs for abnormalities that may indicate disease.
Besides the organs listed above, the Ezra Full Body Plus includes:
An LDCT or CAC may be ordered if deemed appropriate. An Ezra Full Body takes about 60 minutes.
After your scan, you may request a copy of your images to share with your healthcare provider. If you don’t have a medical provider, don’t worry.
An Ezra Medical Provider will contact you within five business days to discuss your results.
No one likes surprise medical bills.
Our scans range from $575 to $2,350 with an option for 12-month payment plans.
Ezra also accepts your health savings account dollars (FSA/HSA) for all of our services. We frequently offer promotions, so you may pay less than our current prices, which you’ll find here. We have started partnering with employers to offer sponsored scans and discounts to their employees.
Ezra has scanned over 1,500 people to date. Thirteen percent (13%) of people scanned have found potential cancer and 72% had clinically significant findings.1 We have detailed some of the significant findings by organ below.
Our Ezra Report walks through all significant findings from your Ezra Scan, including follow up diagnostic efforts or lifestyle recommendations.
For example, we recommend lifestyle and dietary changes for members with fatty liver, which can help reverse the changes of possible cirrhosis or liver cancer down the road.
Choosing to be proactive is an excellent first step in taking charge of your health — prevention should start while you’re still healthy.
