An Ezra Full Body is a whole body scan defined as a scan of up to 13 organs in your body using an MRI. An Ezra Full Body Plus includes up to 13 organs covered by the Full Body as well as a low-dose CT scan of the chest and a coronary calcium scoring.
An Ezra Medical Provider can help you choose the appropriate Ezra Scan for you to get a look inside your body. Here’s a look at each product offered at Ezra.
Advanced technology, fewer risk factors, and highly detailed images are a few reasons an MRI is used for cancer screening.
An MRI differs from other radiology procedures because it doesn’t expose you to harmful ionizing radiation. Instead, it uses a magnetic field and radio waves to measure the water content in your tissues. Computers use the data gathered to create 2D images. Technicians, viewing the scan in real-time, may make adjustments to your position as needed to ensure the highest quality results.
While the magnets used in MRI machines are harmless to the human body, an MRI scan may not be the best choice if you have:
If you’re unsure whether you have one of these, let your technician or your care advisor know as soon as possible.
A low-dose CT (“LDCT”) is the preferred scan for patients with risk factors for lung cancer and residual damage from lung infections like COVID-19.
Currently, United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends yearly LDCT scans for people ages 50 to 80 who have smoked the equivalent of one pack of cigarettes per day for 20 years.
If you currently smoke or have become a non-smoker within the past 15 years, your Ezra clinician may recommend that your scan includes an LDCT of the chest.
An LDCT helps in a couple of ways:
Lung cancer is the third most common cancer in the United States, but it kills more people each year than any other. Like all cancer, early detection is key to survival.
However, because the early symptoms of lung cancer may be silent, only 17% of lung cancer gets diagnosed before it has spread.
But even if you are not high risk, an LDCT of the chest, which is offered in Ezra’s Full Body Plus, is a good method of screening for lung cancer.
As Thoracic Surgeon and Medical Director of The Lung Institute, Dr. Robert Caccavale points out in Conquer magazine, “15% of new lung cancer occurs in patients who’ve never smoked.”
Like Ezra, he believes everyone should have the CT screening, regardless of if they meet USPSTF criteria. “There is no reason someone cannot get an out-of-pocket scan.”

All women of a certain age considering a yearly full body scan should also get a mammogram. A report published in 2019 explains that the mammogram has prevented over half of a million deaths from breast cancer over the last 30 years.
The report also details the unfortunate facts that for years, despite availability and effectiveness, lack of access due to cost was the main reason more lives weren’t saved.
Did you know that insurance covers the cost of most mammograms? And even if you don’t have coverage, we offer our mammograms at an affordable cost.
We also have premier access to booking appointments at our partner imaging facilities, allowing you to schedule a mammogram as early as this week.
The primary goal of preventive medicine is knowing you’re well. The secondary goal is to catch the disease at the earliest possible time.
A whole body scan is for people just like you:
